The unit we will learn today is about auxiliary verbs. Auxiliary verbs are more numerous than auxiliary adverbs and have a wider range of grammatical functions. Although auxiliary verbs can also be used as regular verbs, when used as auxiliary verbs, their meaning differs from that of the regular verb. They can be divided based on meaning. There are those related to tense and action, causative/pastive forms, and negation. If you study this unit thoroughly, you will be able to solve the 30 exercises at the end without difficulty.

1. -아/어 보다
Feature:
-아/어 보다 is used to express trying or experiencing an action. It often corresponds to “try doing,” “have a chance to,” or “experience doing” in English.
Examples:
한국 음식을 먹어 봤어요.
→ I have tried Korean food.이 옷을 입어 보세요.
→ Please try this clothes on.제주도에 가 보고 싶어요.
→ I want to visit Jeju Island.이 방법을 한번 사용해 봐요.
→ Let's try using this method once.
2. -고 보다 / -다(가) 보다
Feature:
-고 보다 emphasizes doing something first and then seeing what happens or considering the result.
-다(가) 보다 can indicate that while doing something repeatedly or continuing an action, a new situation or realization occurs. The exact meaning depends on context.
Examples:
일단 한번 해 보고 생각해 봅시다.
→ Let's try it first and then think about it.직접 만나고 보니 생각보다 친절했어요.

3. -아/어 주다

4. -아/어 버리다
Feature:
-아/어 버리다 indicates that an action is completely finished. It can also express the speaker's regret, relief, disappointment, or satisfaction depending on context.
Examples:
숙제를 다 해 버렸어요.
→ I finished all my homework.실수로 커피를 쏟아 버렸어요.
→ I accidentally spilled the coffee.돈을 다 써 버렸어요.

5. -아/어 치우다
Feature:
-아/어 치우다 emphasizes finishing or getting rid of something completely, often quickly or decisively. It can convey a strong sense of completion.

6. -고 말다
Feature:

7. -아/어 대다

Feature:
-아/어 놓다 indicates that an action is completed in advance and the resulting state is maintained. It is often used when something is prepared for future use.

→ I prepared the food in advance.필요한 자료를 준비해 놓았어요.

10. -아/어 가다 / -아/어 오다
Feature:
-아/어 가다 indicates that a change or action continues toward the future.
-아/어 오다 indicates that a change or action has continued from the past up to the present.
Examples:

→ The weather is gradually getting warmer.한국어 실력이 조금씩 늘어 가고 있어요.

2. -고 보다 / -다(가) 보다

-다(가) 보다 is commonly used when a person continues or repeatedly performs an action and a new realization/result occurs.
